Volunteers will serve at The Shillelagh Golf Tournament, which brings golfers together in order to raise money to support the mission of Barber National Institute. Volunteers will interact with participants, selling raffle tickets, setting up and tearing down. This is a special event on June 12, 2025, that is an 8 hour serving opportunity. Volunteers will help paint and clean/beautify the store and office space. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Volunteers who paint should have some painting skill and not be uneasy if they have to be on scaffolding (for higher painting spots.) Volunteers will have the opportunity to help local refugees to gain self sufficiency through English classes and/or childcare services. Opportunities could be either group or one on one setting, which may include teaching English or providing childcare. Shifts would be for 4 hours at a time, Monday-Friday during regular business hours. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older. State clearances must be run and and stairs are involved. Volunteer will match up pieces of disassembled beds, clean them, assemble the bed for testing, test, disassemble for pick up/transport to Erie community members. This is an ongoing serving opportunity through Winter 2025. Volunteers should be over the age of 18 and able to lift heavy materials (50lbs) and problem solve. Volunteers will be serving at a local art festival. Festival runs from 9am-9pm, but there is flexibility is volunteering for shorter shifts. They will serve as parking guides, general clean up crew before, during and after the event, helping to resupply restrooms and any other general event support. Volunteers under 18 must serve with a parent/guardian/supervisor and have all necessary waivers in the ServErie volunteer system completed. No specific skills are needed (just willing hands and an open heart!), but some parking logistics would be helpful for the parking lot and there could be some heavy lifting when emptying the trash around the event site.

Volunteers will help complete items on home's outside to-do list that they may not have time to get to before summer. Power washing (decks, patio, house),cleaning off patio furniture, garage cleaning, van cleaning. Serving window is a 4 hours block. All volunteers must be 18 or older. Volunteers should passionate about helping local youth and be willing to be a good role model. Volunteer opportunities are in 4 hour shifts and can occur any day of the week. Volunteers will be asked to clean/paint all rooms in a 3 bedroom house - preparing it for use in our Genesis housing program and remove debris from basement. Volunteers will also clean, paint, install handrails (if capable), and, weather permitting, will remove storm door and windows, will scrape/paint and then re-install door and windows. Volunteers will help to maintaining a safe and clean building where the USCRI staff can work and serve newly-arrived refugees + childcare center . Volunteer will help to deep clean the building--mopping, sweeping, wiping down surfaces, windows, etc. + washing toys and all surfaces in on-site childcare center and playground, we could also use periodic outdoor clean up, raking, trimming, weeding, mowing (to off-set loss of personnel with funding cuts.) This is a repeated, on-going serving opportunity (4 hour shift) for any age (under 18 must serve with a parent/adult).
