Volunteers will help paint and clean/beautify the store and office space. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. Volunteers who paint should have some painting skill and not be uneasy if they have to be on scaffolding (for higher painting spots.) Volunteer will match up pieces of disassembled beds, clean them, assemble the bed for testing, test, disassemble for pick up/transport to Erie community members. This is an ongoing serving opportunity through Winter 2025. Volunteers should be over the age of 18 and able to lift heavy materials (50lbs) and problem solve. Volunteers will support our community animal shelter with upkeep, activities for animals, etc. Shelter cleaning, making enrichment toys for animals, assisting with activity classes, reading to and/or praying over animals. Orientation will be required, and youth under age 18 may not handle animals without adult attendance and training. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Help prevent community malnourishment by serving meals to families at the community shelters of Kiwanis Village. Assist to serve a breakfast, lunch or dinner to families at Kiwanis Village. Food is provided by Community Shelter Services. Serve times are approximately one hour. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Each shift will only be 4 hours long, but times vary. Volunteers will help support the community park environment by helping to plant trees. A broad range of skill sets needed, some of which can be done from home. Join the water squad to care for newly planted trees. Volunteers over age 18 can also assist with Open Market vendor, coordination, setting up and tearing down for market, photography, sell LEAF merchandise & more. Volunteers will help complete items on home's outside to-do list that they may not have time to get to before summer. Power washing (decks, patio, house),cleaning off patio furniture, garage cleaning, van cleaning. Serving window is a 4 hours block. All volunteers must be 18 or older. This is a project for YOUTH. Attendance is not required, this is a work from home project. Volunteers will write notes or letters to senior residents and mail them to the activity coordinator at the senior facility. Provide companionship to a senior resident who may not have many family or friends to communicate with via written correspondence. Volunteers only under 18 years of age. Volunteers should passionate about helping local youth and be willing to be a good role model. Volunteer opportunities are in 4 hour shifts and can occur any day of the week. Join us to prayerfully pack 4 trucks filled with over 22,000 gift-filed shoeboxes to benefit Operation Christmas Child. We need shoebox packers, box folders, and some strong folks to load the trucks. This project will improve the interior looks of the Neighborhood Partnership Center. Activities include remove wallpaper, sand and paint or texture paint walls. Volunteers will help to maintaining a safe and clean building where the USCRI staff can work and serve newly-arrived refugees + childcare center . Volunteer will help to deep clean the building--mopping, sweeping, wiping down surfaces, windows, etc. + washing toys and all surfaces in on-site childcare center and playground, we could also use periodic outdoor clean up, raking, trimming, weeding, mowing (to off-set loss of personnel with funding cuts.) This is a repeated, on-going serving opportunity (4 hour shift) for any age (under 18 must serve with a parent/adult). Volunteers will help move heavy objects around the school. Curriculum will be arriving at the school and needs to be moved to all classrooms, on all floors, of the building. Moving these boxes of books to various classrooms in a non-accessible building with no AC would be a huge help to all at Edison! Volunteers will help to get the school bike rack repainted as well as some gym cubbies spray painted. Volunteers will also clean out/repair/ organize, sort and move storage areas under school stage, on top of school stage, and in their large storage closet and in general help to organized and move other items around in the school. Volunteers will also need help in the community closet, moving some of those items to the stage, organizing and cleaning and also help with some gardening projects. Volunteers will have the opportunity to serve at Erie High, completing the following activities: 1. Cleaning, organizing, and moving items to prepare our auditorium for a revitalization project; 2. Mural within community school room; 3. Clean up of school grounds - trash pick up, landscape work to help prepare grounds for summer; 4. Cleaning in school - locker wipe down etc. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age and accompanied by a parent/adult if under 18. Volunteers will be assisting the school to enhance their school's community garden by installing the water feature of the garden, which would involve the following: pump basin dry, pull out gravel, drop in the new tub, connect the pipes (doesn't require plumber, but handy man ideally), pull/scrub/lay liner, move large rocks back into feature, plant water plants, lay gravel between raised beds. School has already purchased parts for the water feature. All volunteers must be registered and signed into the system before serving. Volunteers should be at least 16 and accompanied by an adult under 18, as the work will be labor intensive.

Volunteers will help complete a total inventory and reorganization of the supplies and where they kept, including clearing out the staff lounge space too. 2 Bonus project -- we have 2 metal garbage cans for the playground area that need installed "drilled" into the concrete platforms and the assistant principal's office painted. All volunteers must at least 16 years of age and under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. All volunteers must be registered and signed into the system before serving.

Volunteers will be cleaning, organizing/sorting and moving heavy objects. Volunteers will hope to clear clutter from some underutilized spaces in order to reorganize and better use those spaces in the school year. This will require sorting and moving items, throwing things away, cleaning spaces, organizing materials in several areas (Fan Room, Atrium, 12th St hall, 12th St conference room, community closet, nurse's room). Volunteers will assist on project ideas that are a continuation of last year's work! Ideas include: painting the floor in the weight room (which would also require moving the equipment), painting an outdoor mural to go in the courtyard (where we built last year's bench), volunteers will help assemble picnic benches and possibly paint additional murals in the hallways. Volunteers will assist in the classroom and/or help students utilize the driving simulator. We utilize a lot of visual and hands on learning techniques. We will not be practicing driving in a car. Driving Class for refugees who are illiterate in their own language and therefore unable to study the PA Manual for the permit test. In all of our classes, we share a bible verse and pray to plant seeds. Our goal is to make safe drivers and understanding the rules of the road is the first step. Driving classes will begin again in the Fall in 2025. All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. Volunteers will help the Erie City Mission daily meal service by organizing donations, preparing food, serving meals, engaging with guests and supporting the daily public and internal meal service of breakfast and lunch for persons experiencing homelessness or living in poverty. Breakfast shifts begin at 6:30 a.m. Lunch shifts are from 9:30 a.m. -12:30 p.m. Volunteers must be 16 or older and anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Volunteers will help teach ESL classes, be drivers and helpers to prepare and teach English and/or phonics. Volunteers will help to prepare and share the bible verse(training/guidance will be provided). There are usually small children in the room, so bringing young helpers to play and watch the kids is encouraged. Several of the women need a ride to and from class, so those who wish to drive women and children is helpful (but not required) as well. English classes for Afghan women will take place at McKinley Elementary. Classes will be held Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons(2-4pm) from July 1 through mid August (Summer commitment is 2 hours per week for 6 weeks). We are teaching them English and sharing bible verses and stories to plant seeds and be a witness to who Jesus truly is. Volunteers must be 18 years or older.
